The rubber is tight enough to hold very well to the iPod, but stretchy enough to make removal a breeze and doable in under a minute. One reviewer commented that this might result in scratches to the iPod, but this too seems to be an exaggeration in my opinion. The only time I've had to take it off was to use in a Altec portable speaker, but removal is pretty easy. For dirt/dust around the corners, you can literally just slide a finger under the flap to remove the dust (I don't do this 15 second process more than a couple times a week). QUICK REVIEW AND EXPLANATION FOR 4-STAR RATING:+ Excellent fit+ All ports easily accessed+ Textured rubber is both aesthetically appealing and practical+ VERY sleek, about the slimmest yet protective case I could find- At $30, it's a bit pricey.
I just prefer the rubber grip. And trust me I looked, I took about every case Best Buy had out of the box and put it on my touch to see which was best, and both incase's silicone and their plastic slider were my preferred cases. As for dirt/dust that gets behind the back, it's not even visible due to the case and can be wiped off in one swipe of a paper-towel if you want (and again, how often do you need to clean small bits of non-visible dust from behind your iPod). This is not a $30 case in my opinion, but given what's in the market they can get away with $30 because this case is the only sleek, well-fitted rubber case I was able to find. The key to removal is to use both your thumbs to push both sides of a corner off the corner of the unit, then do the same for one of the adjacent corners and there you go, the case is off.As for dirt accumulation under the case, I think other reviews have SEVERELY exaggerated this problem. If this is a problem for you and you don't care about the grib that rubber cases offer, just get a plastic one like the "incase slider" instead. My biggest complaint is that the case retails around $30. I personally have not experienced this problem, though there is a small mark where a friend decided to mess around with my case and tried to take it off by just stretching a single edge until it came off. The only downside is the small effort required to clean, and again - this is only necessary if you don't like even the idea that there's dust somewhere on your ipod. Some dust does stick to the rubber case, but can be wiped off pretty easily as well.
I think even $20 would be a much more reasonable price.I've been using this case for the iPod touch 2g and it's exactly what I wanted: very slim and sleek to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the iPod; textured rubber holds on to surfaces well (it's actually saved me from a couple perilous drops now) and actually looks pretty cool too (kind of wave like swirls); the fit is perfect and does NOT cover any part of the touchable screen (only part of the black edge), the rubber over the volume controls and sleep button are dead-on accurate, and all the ports are easily accessed. It is literally DUST, particles so small they couldn't scratch anything. If you're looking for the best available right now and don't mind paying the extra $10-$15 over other cases, this is it.I use this case with ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD (made from the same technology used to protect military helicopters propelers) and the two complement each other very well.I highly recommend this product. I can imagine that the rubber might rip if recklessly handled (like if you snag an edge on a key in your pocket or something and just keep tugging at it rather than shake it a bit or something more gentle/careful). Yes, some dirt/dust might accumulate around the edge of the case if your pockets aren't perfectly clean and little bits of dust might slide behind the case if you don't remove the case for prolonged periods of time, BUT this has never been a real issue for me.
The main issue with it is that everything sticks to it, especially if you keep the phone in your pocket; not only will all kind of dust and lint stick to the outside of the case, it will also accumulate between the case and the back of the phone, which could scratch it over time. The only good thing about it is that it provides a nice grip and it won't slip easily when you hold it, however, for the price, you would be much much better off getting the Slider Case made by the same people at Incase. I used this case for a few months and would not recommend it.
Not too big of a deal, but I found you had to clean it out every couple of days, especially if you wanted to keep it clear of dust/dirt.2. As mentioned, the killer was the fact that I kept hitting the case when I was hitting the iphone's virtual keys that were on the edge. I've always been a "purist" as I like to call myself, so I'm one where I try not to "cover" my iPods, cell phones, etc. I like to have them shine in their original beauty, but, unfortunately, that isn't always the case. It probably would've worked out if they'd made it not wrap so far around the phone. Really, it's not bad, but I ended up having several issues with it that caused me to throw it in a drawer.1. This is only magnified even more when you keep the phone in your pocket, like I do.
How do I feel about it in the end. It got to be such a pain, that I couldn't stand have the case.
As a result, and from the recommendation of a friend, I picked up the Incase silicone cover. The edge of this case ends up covering a slight portion of the screen, so when you push "keys" on the edges, you're always running into the case.
with cases galore. This probably ended up being the deal clincher for me, but, as you know, the iphone's way of input is with your finger.
I ended up just picking up an Invisible Shield, which goes back to how I feel about letting the product flaunt itself. As is the case with nearly every iPod and iPhone, a portion of it can and will get scratched.
Like most other silicone cases, this case gets dirty.
My ONLY complaint is that it's too thick for the dock - but that's not a big deal as you can just take the spacer out and it holds fine.I just got the 3G iPhone case today, and it seems to fit just as nicely as the one for the iPod. Fits tight, barely adds to the profile of the device, provides a nice grippy texture (can put it on your dashboard, etc), and has a cool texture. I have had this case for my iPod touch for 10 months now. Wonderful case.
But it just doesn't hold up to everyday switching the ringer off & on and plugging & unplugging the headphones. After about 3 months the top started to crack and progressed to the point that the case would just fall off.I like the way the material grips things like a car hood or a sofa cushion, and I believe it helped with preventing damage to the phone from a few drops. I bought one of these in Chocolate about 6 months ago. In a couple of months the color started to change to a pea green.
